STL is honoured to have had Turtle Concepts guest speakers David and Daniel Jones as well as Aunt Dolly and Liz from Garden River First Nation as part of our Orange Shirt Day Video. They delivered a message of ‘Power over Pity’ as well as how ‘Kindness meets Resilience’ by acknowledging how the past has turned into a very positive present and is making for a very healthy future.
David and Daniel Jones heard about situations, learned the facts, found the truth and made conscious choices to make more of their lives, BECAUSE THEY KNEW THEY MATTERED. Their story differs from many, but is connected to many more who want truth, who want to reconcile, who want to be more, who want to re-invent the history and who are living examples of a new stereotype for Canada. Our students were challenged today to connect and contribute to helping those who are still confused as to the truth and purpose of National Orange Shirt Day.
