ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL
Mission Statement:
The Environmental Council strives to promote environmental awareness, respect and appreciation for our planet while fulfilling God’s expectation of stewardship.
Main Events:
Park Clean-ups: Every year Environmental Council holds two park clean-ups, one per semester, which encourage students to take pride in their school’s appearance, and to take care of the surrounding area. This past year, Environmental Council also hosted EcoStock, an eco-conference put together in partnership with Toronto-based organization Evergreen. It brought together students from all over York Region to take part in fun and informative workshops, and was attended by over 250 students. Keynote speakers for this event included Geoff Cape, executive director of Evergreen, and the Hon. Donna Cansfield, Minister of Natural Resources. EcoStock will not be recurring this year, but there are more great ideas and big events to come!
