ATHLETIC COUNCIL Mission Statement: To promote the awareness of healthy active lifestyles by acknowledging the efforts and accomplishments of our athletes and athletic program. Main Events: TERRY FOX– Student Government hosts our annual Terry Fox Run/Walk at STL. Athletic Council, in the past, has been in charge of the route. BASKETBALL BUY IN – Athletic Council runs the annual basketball buy in. Every period four class is invited to come out and cheer on the LIONS basketball team! All money raised goes toward the annual athletic banquet. CHRISTMAS CANDY GRAMS – The Athletic Council sells Candy grams during Christmas spirit week. Students can purchase these candy grams and send them to their teachers and friends. HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK - One week of every year is devoted to athletics and living a healthy lifestyle within the school.  Bulletin boards, announcements and contests happen throughout the week. ATHLETIC BANQUET – The athletic banquet is the main athletic event of the year. It is the night we honor and celebrate STL sports and athletes and acknowledge the achievements that have been accomplished throughout the year. There are numerous awards presented to a wide range of individuals from all grade levels including: MIP - Most Improved Player, MVP - Most Valuable Player, Letter of Merit, Letter of Distinction, Outstanding Athletic Contribution and the most prestigious award of the night, Jr. and Sr. Male and Female athlete of the year. This past year the “Rumble in the Jungle” Athletic Banquet has been the biggest so far, with a total of 300 staff, coaches and athletes participating.
